Classical Japanese Brush Class 1

Learn basic strokes for all brush arts through this workshop in Classical Japanese Brush. Suzan is a 40 year Zen brush artist with credentials in and awards given for her Zen Brush Artwork. Each workshop is designed as a tutorial type class with only 4 students. Suzan will provide materials and instruction along with one-on-one instruction in this unique art form. Come and try it out.

The class will be oriented around a particular character and the strokes that make that character up. A hand out (otehon) will be provided along with a meditative exercise and instruction in preparing for practice with black ink on white paper. To finish the class, students will be given a paper and envelope to brush their final piece to take home, or to send to someone. Each workshop will feature a different character and lesson.
